Victoria appears in criminal law, family law and intervention order matters. She believes in justice and access to justice which is reflected in her practice and voluntary commitments.
Her expertise in criminal matters extends to summary, indictable and serious indictable crime under the relevant Commonwealth and State legislation. She also appears before the Drug Court, the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal and the Mental Health Review Board. Victoria is currently completing the requirements for the Victorian Bar's Indictable Crime Certificate.
In family law she appears in children’s and financial matters in the Family Court of Australia and Federal Circuit Court.
As well as appearing in intervention order matters under the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and the Personal Safety Intervention Orders Act 2010, Victoria regularly provides continuing professional development seminars to lawyers on that subject.
Victoria has been a lawyer volunteer and executive board member with Peninsula Community Legal Centre for over a decade. She was the President of its Committee of Management from 2010 to 2013 and currently serves as the Vice President. Whilst a student at Monash University and post graduation she also volunteered with the Springvale Monash Legal Service/SECASA joint clinical legal service.
With almost a decade in practice as a solicitor, Victoria came to the Victorian Bar with much experience in her practice areas. She completed articles with a specialist family law firm and practiced with there as a family lawyer upon completion. She then moved to Victoria Legal Aid and appeared in family law, family violence and criminal matters as well as taking on a managerial role and simultaneously having conduct of trials in the County and Supreme Courts and Court of Appeal. She then joined James Dowsley and Associates, criminal law specialists, where she was the senior solicitor advocate until coming to the Bar in 2011. Likewise in that role whilst appearing daily in the Magistrates and County Courts she had the conduct of trials in the County and Supreme Courts and Court of Appeal.
Victoria read with Andrew G Robinson and her senior mentor is Mark Rochford SC. Also, she is a current participant in the Magistrate to Barrister mentoring program offered by the Magistrates Court of Victoria and the Association of Women Barristers.
Her current memberships include the Association of Women Barristers, the Criminal Bar Association, the Family Law Bar Association and the Law Institute of Victoria.
