Gerard Thistleton

Gerard was a solicitor in private practice and then a registrar with the Family Court at Parramatta, Sydney & Principal Registries. He joined the New South Wales Bar in 1990. His practice was in crime, some military work as a reservist with the RAAF, mental health tribunals and then increasingly in family law alone. He has appeared in the NSW District & Supreme Court, jury trials in indictable crime, all levels of family law tribunals and in Queensland, the ACT and Victoria as well as New South Wales. Gerard transferred to the Victorian Bar in 2010. He has arts & law degrees from the University of New South Wales and a graduate diploma in Public Sector Management from the University of Technology Sydney.Gerard has accreditation as a mediator (training with the Victorian Bar) and family dispute resolution practitioner (training with Bond University) and has conducted mediations throughout the Commonwealth.
