Ashleigh Morris

Ashleigh brings a wealth of varied experience to her practice at the Bar. Ashleigh accepts briefs to appear and advise in common law, family law, criminal, quasi-criminal and regulatory matters. Ashleigh is pleased to accept Court appearance based matters as well as written drafting and advice briefs.

Personal Injuries/Common Law: 

Ashleigh is particularly skilled in analysing personal injuries matters with heavy medical content and material.  In her experience prior to coming to the Bar, Ashleigh worked at a Medico-Legal drafting Firm, providing specialised medico-legal reports for doctors and surgeons.  This saw her gain significant experience in medical material, and how it is presented to the Courts.

Criminal Law: 

Ashleigh is a dedicated criminal advocate who is passionate about seeking the very best results for her clients.  Ashleigh accepts Legal Aid and private criminal law and IVO matters across all Melbourne metro Courts.  Ashleigh is an excellent relationship builder and has a natural rapport with clients.   

Ashleigh was an Associate to Judges of the Criminal Division of the County Court of Victoria prior to coming to the Bar, giving her a great depth of understanding of the way the Courts approach various criminal matters.   

Further, her experience working for Victoria Police in the Legal Services Department gave her exposure to the prosecution side of bail appeals and remand proceedings, family violence matters, and children’s court proceedings.  

Family Law and Children’s Court Matters:  

Prior to coming to the Bar, Ashleigh worked as a solicitor appearing in family law, family violence and child protection matters.  Ashleigh gives insightful counsel to her matters and is realistic and practical in her assessment of the property and parenting briefs that she runs.

Ashleigh is reading with Moya O’Brien and her senior mentor is Peter Chadwick QC. 

Ashleigh also worked as a sessional teacher in Applied Criminal Law at Swinburne University. Outside of her legal practice Ashleigh enjoys true crime and legal documentaries, podcasts and books and has been a long term foster carer for Animal Aid.
